Starting March 3, 2024, fans can stream and download four renowned works by “Kagrra,”—singles Uzu (渦) and Shiki (四季), and albums Core and Shu (珠). Released by King Records, who represented Kagrra, between 2007–2009, these selections from that era were absent from streaming platforms until now. This marks the official debut of these four releases on subscription services.
Additionally, on March 1, 2024, music videos for the lead tracks Irodori no Sanka (彩の讃歌), Uzu, Shiki, and Sakurazukiyo (桜月夜) were simultaneously released.
Formed in 2000, Kagrra, featured vocalist Isshi, guitarists Akiya and Shin (who also played koto, a Japanese zither instrument), bassist Nao, and drummer Izumi. They crafted a unique “Neo-Japanesque” style, honoring Japanese traditional arts while fusing them with a modern rock sound. Vocalist Isshi created a unique worldview, penning lyrics that used many ancient Japanese words and kanji. The result is a distinct sound and visual aesthetic based on the “Wa” (和) concept—a unique expression of Japanese culture.
Sadly, the music world mourned the loss of Isshi on July 18, 2011, not long after Kagrra,’s disbandment on March 3 of the same year. Over a decade later, this re-release invites long-time fans and new listeners to experience Kagrra,’s beautiful music, celebrating their enduring legacy.
