Netflix’s new reality television series, Zombieverse, gives contestants a chance to see if they could actually survive a real zombie apocalypse.

Netflix has released the first trailer for Zombieverse, a new reality series set in Seoul, South Korea. The trailer sees a number of contestants work together in an attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse by finding food, building shelter, and more. If any of the contestants get “bitten” by one of the many actors portraying a zombie, they then must immediately exit the game.

Watch the trailer for Zombieverse below:

The official description of Zombieverse reads, “In Seoul, where a zombie virus outbreak has run amok, who will outwit the undead in the face of challenging quests and come out alive?”

According to Deadline, Zombieverse contestants include actors Lee Si-young (Sweet Home, The Birth of the Rich) and Kim Jin-young (Single’s Inferno), comedian Park Na-rae, rapper DinDin, baseball player Yoo Hee-kwan, and more. The show is produced by Park Jin-kyung and Moon Sang-don.

Zombieverse Isn’t the First Zombie Apocalypse Reality Television Series

Released in 2015, I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse was a reality television game series that aired on BBC Three. Utilizing a similar premise as Zombieverse, I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse saw a handful of contestants attempt to survive for one week in an shopping mall that had become overrun by zombies. During those seven days, the contestants have to complete various tasks given to them by the army in addition to making shelter and surviving. The show only lasted for one season, which contained eight episodes.

Reality Z, which aired on Netflix in 2020, also sees players try to survive a zombie outbreaking while hunkering down in a television studio located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Additionally,

Zombieverse officially premieres on Netflix on Aug. 8, 2023.
